My Cross

I remember as a child

a teacher once told me

The Great Spirit

or God as she called it

would never give you

a burden so great

you could not bear

She told a story of a man

who was given his choice

of which cross to carry.

After inspecting them all

he chose his own.

If she was right

then why do I feel like I am naked

swimming in a sea of indigo

the weight of an upside-down world

bearing down upon my cross?

My cross, a giant dildo

Waiting to consume me.
