Jacob’s
Ladder
There
is a ladder we each must climb,
splintered
and broken a perilous journey along the way.
Each
rung looks steady, an easy choice to make . . .
Will
you be like Jack, catapulted to a castle in the sky,
or
bash your dreams upon a ceiling
fraught
with shards of glass, unperceivable except to the most in tuned?
False
promises made, directions changed,
a
victim of circumstances more than choice.
How
many choices based upon choices other’s made?
Will
the next step be perilous, covered with moss?
The
next brittle and broken, fragile and battered with age . . .
Will
your legs be strong, built on a foundation of love, truth and God
or
will they falter, a pretence of strength?
Will
your hands grasp out helping others along the way?
Will
you leave your mark upon the world?
When
you reach the top will you look back and say it was all worth while?
Will
friends and family gather and say “here lies a real man”
or
will you just pass through this life, a mere grain in the sand?
Life
seems so easy as a child but life is hard.
Many
loves are lost both family and friend, but we must all climb that ladder.
In
the end, all loved will be together again.
